If You Want It Done Right ...
Our meeting this month will feature a step-by-step guide to publishing your own work, a very important topic in these times of industry shrinkage and technological innovation.
Topics will include:
• Choosing the best size and format for your work
• Getting your ISBN
• The ins and outs of copyrighting
• Choosing a printing method - Print on Demand or Offset
• Selecting a printing house
Bring your own work, if you wish, on a disc or flash drive, and our presenter will offer suggestions about how to format it for publication. The talk will also include tips on using Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop in publishing.
Our presenter? Why it's a Mystery Guest! Oh, okay - it's our esteemed President, Marybeth Barr, herself a successful self publisher! Come and learn from someone who's walked the path (perhaps more than one someone - other folks who have self published, feel free to help Marybeth fill in any blanks in her presentation)!
And you know there will be plenty other things going on - news on The Toonies and the upcoming Emerald City Comicon! "Best of the Northwest" cartooning contest! Silliness! And, of course, a new "mystery discount" item at Daniel Smith's, and food 'n' drink 'n' conversation at Goldies after the meeting! It can all be yours, if you're willing to Do It Yerself!
