CNW April 17th Meeting!

Take Me to Your Latte

The April meeting of CNW will be a clothing-optional affair.

Just kidding! Really, it will be a "Come-as-Your-Favorite-Soviet-Premier Festival."

Nyuk nyuk! No, really it'll be a seance-style session, with expected contributions from Jack Kirby, Walt Kelly, Chester Gould, and Carl Barks. And ol' Walt Disney may drop by and chill out with us awhile.

Hokayfine! Now that I've got all that April Fool stuff out of my system, I can tell you that the April meeting will concern an alien who runs a Pacific Northwest coffee shop. What? No, really! Our guest will be Michael Foster, creator of a comic strip called "Larry's Cafe," which features the aforementioned java-slinging extraterrestrial. Michael is no Charles Shulz (or so he tells us in his bio), but he has been producing his strip on and off for twenty years, a pretty good run in anyone's book, I'd think.

Michael also runs an art-related business, and he creates graphics, illustrations, video productions, marketing materials, and Flash movies for a variety of companies. Among other things, he promises to share "stories, goofy happenings, and mishaps" from throughout his career.

As usual, after the talk, and after we all get our customary make-overs and play our typical drinking games (graah ... April Fools again!), we'll share news, conduct our "Best of the Northwest" (maybe we should make it "Worst of ... " for April? I could probably win that one!) cartoon contest, talk about upcoming events, and quite possibly socialize. Okay, so it's not a seance, but it sounds like fun. Don't say "nyet!" Say "da!" See you there.

What: April meeting of Cartoonists Northwest (monthly meetings on the third Saturday of every month.)
When: Saturday, April 17th, 2010, from 4pm to 6pm
Location: Daniel Smith Finest Quality Artists' Materials
4150 First Avenue South
206-223-9599
(For directions, see the CNW website!)
