CNW June meeting w/Megan Kelso!

Girlhero to Serve Up Some Artichoke Tales!

CNW has scored quite the coup (with a side of melted butter) for our June meeting! Seattle cartooning mainstay, Megan Kelso, has a new book arriving, and she'll be debuting a slideshow talk about it at our upcoming meeting.

Kelso is a lifelong Seattleite (minus a 6.5-year stint in New York), who has been drawing comics for 18 years. She became well known throughout the '90s and '00s for such works as Queen of the Black Black and The Squirrel Mother, as well as a number of minicomics and anthology pieces. Her new book, Artichoke Tales, has been in the works for about 10 years (I remember reading and enjoying bits of it in various anthologies, so I am quite interested to see how the complete story turned out), and is about as fresh as fresh can be (I'm not quite sure whether it's available yet or not, but if it's not, it should be very soon).

Join us for what's sure to be an informative and fun presentation and discussion from one of our hometown's premiere Toon Veterans. For more info about Megan and her work, check out her website at www.girlhero.com.

Also, it should go without saying by now (but never shall) that we'll have plenty of other activities going on at our little shindig, including "Best of the Northwest" cartoon competition, new business and news, reviews of past things, and perhaps some fun during and after the meeting (food and drink after the fact). Plus, y'all can let me know if I look a day over 42!
